Spanish Video #2
I prepared a lot more for this video compared to the first one I did in this class. In the last conversation, I felt much more comfortable because it was beginner words that I could understand. In this video, I was much more nervous, as it was difficult vocabulary. I dedicated a majority of my time after getting this assignment to memorization, but I still felt unsure of myself when it came time to deliver it. My partner, Luci, was also very prepared for this task. She really pulled though and helped us have a quality conversation. This conversation was about food, as well as school so it is helpful in a normal conversation. I learned words like "Almuerzo" and "Comida", which may come up with Spanish speakers. I have a few disappointments after this assignment. One of those being the shortness of it. In practice, I had well over one minute, but when I did it in front of the camera, I had 60 seconds exactly. I would've liked it to be a bit longer, but I think it was due to my nervousness. Moving forward, I am excited to learn to have a full conversation without a script. It would make me feel much more comfortable with the language. My partner had a few slip ups in our conversation, but overall she was great. She knew exactly what we were talking about and how to respond. I think it was just being nervous in front of the camera. I think a large area of growth for me in this class is conjugation. When I write or say a sentence in Spanish, often times I will use a word that makes no sense in a conversation, only as a word alone. In my next video, I am open to collaborating with anyone. I have no preferences, as long as we would be able to have a normal flowing conversation in English. I would love to be able to discuss hobbies and things outside of school. I can challenge myself to speak to people in Spanish outside of school by ordering food in Spanish or calling family members to have a conversation with me. I am going to Mexico in the next few weeks so it is a perfect opportunity for me to practice.
