Humanities:
This quarter, I feel that I have had many successful moments. One of the most successful being the vocab short stories and writing in general. I have enjoyed writing this year and improved my skills in this class. Thanks to these assignments, I now have a more expansive vocabulary and better sentence structure. I do have things that I wish I could improve in, however. The biggest being the mental floss notes. I have trouble with writing too much as well as due dates. I use the lessons I learn in my Humanities class in almost all of my classes. It helped the most in my math class when I worked on my write ups. I used skills that I have learned this year in my POW write ups and my Week of Inspirational Math write up.
Integrated Art
An important success for me in this class this year was the Found Object Art Piece. I spent lots of time on this piece and I am proud of it. There are many areas of improvement this year. This class specially has made me very stressed at times and worries me as I am a bit of a perfectionist. I plan to improve this by getting clarification from my teacher and peers by asking questions. I have practiced many things I have learned from this class at home. It is a very fun class and I love being able to practice the lessons we have learned in class.
Math
I enjoy my math class due to the open environment we have. It feels comfortable and the class avoids all judgement. My favorite assignment we have been given this year has been the math write ups. I enjoy them as writing is something I love and being able to incorporate it into this class to show my understanding of the problem is very fun for me. I believe the most valuable strength I have in this class is being able to work with my peers to solve problems. The habit of mathematician that I would like to strengthen is pulling apart and putting it back together. I speak with Dr. Drew about this often, but it is difficult to get. I experienced this the most with an SAT prep problem we had done in this class. I didn't understand it at first look, but after speaking with my teacher and peers about it, I realized it was a lot more simple than I originally thought. I had to label the important parts of it and it helped in solving the big picture. I will speak with Dr. Drew about improving this skill and hopefully learn to adapt it into my work.
Study Habits & Behavior
This semester, my study habits have not improved as much as I wish they could have this year. I haven't gotten much better than 9th grade, but I am in the process of making them stronger. Many times this year, I procrastinated my studying and ended up getting a grade I was not happy with. In the vocabulary tests we have done this year, I have recently waited until the last minute to study the words. My classroom behavior is relativity appropriate. I have a few friends in my class, but I don't allow them to distract me from my work. My participation isn't as strong as I hoped it would be this year. I have trouble with confidence in the classroom and gaining comfort with my classmates. To improve my study habits, I plan to use the flashcards on the quizlets Mrs. Howard gives us and study with my friends. I believe that my participation will grow as the year progresses and I will become more comfortable with my class.
